Exclusive Review of the Tranquil PC ixL Power PC
The spec sheet is as follows:
For my particular ixL, I have got 2GB memory, 1 x 2.5” SATA drive with the 3 eSATA ports. What you will be able to do if you buy this variant is to unplug one of the eSATA ports and connect another hard drive as there is a spare power connector – unfortunately I couldn’t do this as I got a prototype power connector, but that isn’t really a problem. This won’t happen normally and it was just because mine came early
I also got the Dual DVB-T tuner card which sits nicely in the unit.
You can have the following:
1x SATA ODD
1x SATA HDD (either 2.5” or 3.5”)
2x extra eSATA (incl 1x on MB)
1x SATA ODD
1x 2.5” HDD
1x 3.5” HDD
1x extra eSATA
The information on the website was a little bit confusing and a quick chat with Tranquil got that updated (at 11pm at night – well done Sue). So again, Tranquil do listen!

WHATS IN THE BOX?
This will be different for each person depending on just what they order, but in my case I got the ixL itself, a power supply and a Media Center remote control.
OPENING UP THE IXL
If you want to upgrade the memory, change or add a PCIex card, change or add a hard drive or do anything else inside the ixL you will need to open it.
This isn’t very hard, however you will need a little bit of patience and care – you don’t want to scratch the lovely case or lose one of the many little screws.
There are some guides here which you should look at first : http://www.homeserversync.co.uk/ixl/webman/index.htm
Once you have removed the necessary screws for the lid, it just slides off (there is also a diagram under the lid that is useful).
Now you can see the insides.
You can even slide off the front plate if you want to.
