Streaming performance has been just fine…I have extensively streamed both DVD copies and 1080i Media Center recordings converted to MP4 format with no issues to my PS3’s and Sony Blu-Ray player.

Conclusion

Setting up your QNAP as an ISCSI target and mapping that to work in Server Essentials 2012 is a handy way to extend your server’s storage, as well as to utilize a virtual approach to implementing Server Essentials 2012. This feature opens up new avenues for both storage and unit-to-unit backup with multiple servers, and is a feature that I intend to leverage going forward.
