Review of the Sony Xperia T Android Smartphone

In the new James Bond film Skyfall 007 uses the Sony Xperia T as his phone – and we have also been using one, and here is our review.

Final Thoughts

So the Sony Xperia T is the Bond Phone, and 007 uses it in Skyfall. Interestingly he just uses it as a phone – it doesn’t shoot lasers, hack computers, or anything that your phone doesn’t do.

The Xperia T looks very nice with its all over black shell and all glass front. The screen itself is very clear and very sharp, and touching the screen was very responsive. Although I would say that fingerprints and smears show up rather a lot (just take a look at the picture above to see exactly what I mean).

One of features of the Xperia T is the arc design. What this means in practice is that the phone sits comfortably in your hand – and it does feel comfortable. Even after prolonged use it still felt comfortable. Part of this is also because the phone is rather slim and light.

Battery life was fairly good too – not the best we have ever seen, but depending on what you are using the phone for and what you have running you can just about get a full day’s use out of it, so consider turning things off you don’t need. The back isn’t removable and so there is no way to replace the battery or carry a spare.

The camera on the phone is very good quality too, and there is even a quick swipe option when the phone is locked so that you can go quickly into the camera mode and try not to miss whatever you want to take a picture of. The volume button on the side of the phone also doubles as a zoom on the camera, and it works rather well.

One disappointing thing is that the phone isn’t running Jelly Bean. Hopefully this is something Sony will address in the near future. Personally I am not a massive fan of Android but the phone works and the features are all there.

If you don’t feel that the built in 16GB storage is enough, and lets be honest, it probably isn’t going to be enough, you can use the microSD slot and add up to 32GB of additional storage.

The phone also supports NFC, however I didn’t have the opportunity to fully test this, but its a feature that will be coming with most new phones.

If you are into gaming, the Xperia T is PlayStation Certified so you can play titles from the PlayStation store, and with the excellent screen gaming is a lot of fun – just remember your battery though!

Overall the Xperia T is a good Android smartphone and if you don’t have a recent phone I can see a lot of people upgrading to it,just hurry up and bring Jelly Bean to it please Sony!
