Nikon has announced new camera hardware at CES 2013, expanding its Nikon 1 series of  snappers as well as its Coolpix line.

A pair of mirrorless  interchangeable lens cameras, the Nikon 1 J3 and the Nikon 1 S1, headlined the  photography giant’s presentation at the Las Vegas trade show.

The Nikon 1 J3 measures in at just 101mm x 60.5mm x 28.8mm and packs a powerful  image processor capable of capturing 60fps, limited to 20 frames in a single  burst. An improved hybrid autofocus system offers a speedier shooting  performance than its predecessor, the J2.

Available in black, white,  beige, red and silver, the camera supports wireless media transfer via the  Wireless Mobile Adapter accessory, which must be purchased  separately.

Nikon’s 1 S1, featuring a 10.1-megapixel image sensor and an  ISO range of between 100 and 6,400, can handle up to 60fps, limited to 15 frames  per shot.

The 1 S1 comes with lower specs and a simpler user interface  than the 1 J3, and is geared towards relative novices looking to make the  transition from a compact camera to an interchangeable lens  shooter.

Nikon also expanded its Coolpix line of compact cameras at CES  with the unveiling of the WiFi-enabled Coolpix S6500 and the stylish S2700.

The former comes with a 16-megapixel CMOS sensor, a wide-angle NIKKOR 12x  optical zoom lens covering a 35mm equivalent focal range of 25-300mm, and WiFi  connectivity for media transfer.

Nikon’s S2700 comes with a lightweight  20.7mm body and 6x optical zoom, as well as features such as motion blur  reduction and in-camera retouching, but is not WiFi-ready.
