The handset, rumoured to be the company’s next flagship Windows Phone 8 device, is said to be a lighter and thinner take on the existing Lumia 920.

The leaked image, ousted on Twitter by evleaks, depicts a handset with Verizon Wireless US branding, which hints at possible US exclusivity.

Nokia’s Lumia¬†928 is expected to feature the same hardware specs as the Lumia 920, with the addition of a xenon flash to bolster the phone’s 8-megapixel camera.

Previous reports indicating that the handset will sport a svelte aluminium body have been denied.

Nokia is yet to announce an official release date or launch territories for the Lumia 928
