At last the Nexus 5 smartphone has arrived, the first device to come with its Android 4.4 KitKat operating system pre-installed.

The LG made handset is quoted as the “slimmest and fastest Nexus phone” yet, with a 2.3 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and 2GB of RAM on board.

With the Nexus 5 weighting at 130g and measuring in at 8.59mm thin, the device includes a 5-inch Full-HD display made of Corning Gorilla Glass 3, an Adreno 330 GPU running at 450 MHz, and a 2300 mAH battery with wireless charging functionality.

Available in black or white, the handset comes with an 8-megapixel camera with Optical Image Stabilisation on the rear, and a 1.3-megapixel snapper on the front for video conferencing.

Google are claiming that the Nexus 5’s battery is capable of providing up to 17 hours of talk time, 300 hours of standby time, and eight and a half hours of web browsing, dropping to seven hours on LTE.

With features include support for LTE, microUSB, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0 and dual-band Wi-Fi, as well as dual microphones, and a built-in speaker and a 3.5mm jack connector.

Both 16GB (£299) and 32GB (£339) storage options are available,from Google’s online store front.
