Today Fractal Design have launched another new case, this time the Core 3000 which is all about the cooling!

We had the pleasure of spending some time with Fractal Design at CES last month, and they told us a lot about their plans and new products for this year, and now one of those products, the Core 3000 case has been released.

Who Are Fractal Design?

This is how Fractal Design describe themselves:

The concept – Design

The concept of Fractal Design is to provide products with an extraordinary design level, without compromising the important factors of quality, functionality and pricing. The computer of today has come to play a central role in most people’s home, creating a demand for appealing design of the computer itself and its accessories.
Our main product areas are computer enclosures, power supplies, cooling, and Media Center-products, such as Home Theatre-enclosures, keyboards and remote controls.

Designed and engineered in Sweden

All Fractal Design products have been thoroughly designed, tested and specified in our Swedish head quarter. The well known ideas of scandinavian design can be found through all of our products; a minimalistic but yet striking design – less is more.

Visions and goals

Our vision is to have a constant, healthy growth together with our partners worldwide. Our goal is to be widely recognized for our designed products and to have them available in all major market regions within EU and US. We should be a good alternative to the already established retail brands of today. It’s of great importance for us that our partners understand the values of Fractal Design, therefore we are putting great effort into choosing the right partners from the start. We will work actively to maintain sales territories and profitable business for our partners.

The way to reach our goals

In the competitive market of today, it’s not enough to just provide excellent products. Regular and well planned marketing activities in close cooperation with the channel and the available media, are keypoints to succeed. We are well experienced in marketing brands in the IT business, and we will use this to create efficient marketing tools – to gain a bigger market share and good earning possibilities for our channel.

I had a chance to stop by the Corsair booth with the Michaels and we saw three great new products. The new Vengeance memory line, the new H60 cooling solution and a new option for the 600T case were all displayed at CES 2011. Check out the pictures from the the booth and the specs on these great new products.

Corsair Vengeance Memory

Corsair was showing off their new Vengeance memory line. This new memory line has great specs and looks fantastic!

One of my better CES pictures by the way…

Corsair Hydro Series H60

The Corsair line has been expanded with new Corsair Hydro Series H60. This new cooling solution is nice and clean.

“The Corsair Hydro Series H60 is a fantastic choice for cooling. With a new micro-channel cold plate and a split-flow designed manifold, the H60 brings remarkable new technologies to an affordable price point. If that weren’t enough, the H60 also features an all-new fan, custom designed to offer enhanced static pressure, which means better cooling.

Fan Specification:
120mm (x1)

Socket Support:
AMD AM2, AMD AM3, Intel LGA 1155, Intel LGA 1156, Intel LGA 1366, Intel LGA 775 “

The H60 is smaller than the H70 and looks like it will fit fine in smaller cases.

Corsair CES 2011

Closer inspection reveals a new CPU mount and a single fan.

Corsair CES 2011

Corsair 600T

You know how much I love my Corsair 600T and now they have a white version.  As you can see, this model has a side panel with a grill that can hold four additional fans or can be replaced with a clear panel. How am I going to explain this purchase to my wife? Ugh.

Corsair CES 2011

Two clicks and the side comes off. Just like prom night.

Corsair CES 2011

If you look closely at the mesh grate you can see the mounting grommets for the optional fans. Again, this will also have an optional clear case option instead of the grate.

The guys over at BYOB have released the BYOB podcast episode 5.

Here is what they say about this weeks show:

As usual you can listen to the show here: http://homeservershow.com/byob-episode-5.html

This weeks show is a little under 1 hour and 20 minutes, so you can really get your hardware fix.

Good jobs guys, and well done Tim Smile

A few weeks ago we reviewed the Xtreamer Media Streamer, and one of the things we noted was the noise.

Got this today from the UK Xtreamer guys:

However, some reviewers and consumers have reported that the device can make a noise in operation.

The small fan fitted to the device is there to cool the main controller / processor as it is busy, especially during playback of HD video.

Xtreamer themselves do provide a fan speed control feature, which can slow the fan down, and there is a new fan version expected soon, to further reduce the background noise.

tc4_side_800 However,  theXtreamer.com (UK Partner / distributor of the Xtreamer) in co-operation with Tranquil (designer of fan less cooling systems) are shortly to release a new ‘side cooler’ for the Xtreamer.

This simple to fit (after sales) item will render the Xtreamer silent.  Factory test results confirm that the cooler is perfect to keep the chips cool, whilst only getting warm to the touch.

No final word on shipping date yet, or the unit cost, but it’s hoped that the coolers will be ready to pre-order soon.

Here is a picture of the custom alloy cooler fitted to the little Xtreamer.

Sounds to me like a winner – I will try and get my hands on one asap and review!
