Following on from the release a few weeks ago of the HP MediaSmart 3.0 Patch 2 update, which amongst other things brought a number of CPU issues into play, HP have just released another update – this one called, wait for it, Patch 3.

HP are releasing a free Add-In for Windows Home Server called the HP MediaSmart Expander for TiVo.

A few days ago we reported that HP had released an update patch on their website for owners of the HP MediaSmart and DataVault Windows Home Servers. That patch is now available to download and install from the Windows Home Server console.

Now that the HP MediaSmart 3.0 software update is out, a lot of people want to know if you can replace the system drive at the same time. I decided to find out.

This week saw the long anticipated and promised release of the HP MediaSmart Server 3.0 software update for Windows Home Server. I upgraded both my EX475 and my EX487 to see how easy it was. And I had some really annoying problems that you might want to be aware of!

So you have to do the dreaded Factory Reset? I did. I had a major Add-In conflict and after a call to Sean at HP Tech Support (yes even I get stuck once in a while) I had a self imposed Factory Reset. So what happens after that first factory start?
