Microsoft today has shared the next wave of features that we will begin to roll out, on your Xbox One. These features will become available to members getting the early previews in the coming days and weeks and will be available to the full Xbox Live community in April.

  • Game and app saves and updates. A game save progress bar will show you the status of your game saves. You will also be able to easily tell what games and apps are being updated or have been updated recently.
  • Friends improvements. Notifications will be added to see when favorites and friends sign in to Xbox Live. This actually was one of the most frequently requested features from the first preview wave and we made it a priority to include it in the April update. Also, friends who are in multiplayer will be identified in the friends list. We’ll also add the ability to view friends’ most popular apps.
  • Kinect voice and motion improvements will continue to fine tune the quality and reliability of Xbox One commands.
  • Improved GameDVR video quality through compression algorithm improvements.

We’re also extending more invitations to Xbox Live members around the world in our current 13 Xbox One markets. New invitees will be sent an Xbox Live message to register. Once registered, you will be able to test the early features included in the update and provide feedback on a private forum.

The external hard drive storage feature is still no in this update, is still a big one and Microsoft have promised it on the to do list.

TomTom wins exclusive deal to deliver real-time traffic information to the Automobile Association website.

TomTom AA partnership 2

TomTom announces a partnership with the AA which will provide the most accurate real-time traffic information for the AA’s Traffic News website.   The AA website will now include TomTom HD Traffic data, which provides a live view of road conditions and areas of congestion, enabling consumers to better plan their journeys:

TomTom HD Traffic creates a picture of traffic conditions as they evolve.  HD Traffic contains information from multiple data sources, including connected navigation devices, mobile phones, road sensors and real time incident data.  TomTom combines this anonymous information to produce real time traffic products using proprietary and tested methods.

Updates are provided every minute ensuring the AA’s customers are fully aware of the current road conditions before they start their travel.  TomTom HD Traffic provides comprehensive coverage across the UK.

With TomTom HD Traffic, the AA is safe in the knowledge that its users can accurately plan their journeys and be fully aware of the most up-to-date conditions on their routes,” said Charles Cautley, Managing Director of TomTom Automotive and Licensing.  “We believe that by partnering with the AA, TomTom is making it possible to more efficiently use the road network and reduce traffic congestion in the UK.”

We are focused on helping drivers prepare for their journeys by using the most up-to-date traffic information available to ensure they are not caught by surprise with traffic incidents or significant congestion,” said Steve Wing of the AA.  “We trust that by equipping drivers with TomTom HD Traffic, they will have both a more positive navigation experience and a faster and safer journey.

Back at the start of the year, we mentioned that we had a number of changes planned for UWHS. The first of these a change to the look of UWHS, and they have now happened.

When we first started UWHS back in 2007, the site was just for Windows Home Server. Since then it has grown to encompass everything in the connected digital home, Apple products, reviews, and so much more.

What we found was that when we had a busy week, only the very latest posts were visible on the front page and that non regular visitors to the site were missing out on anything that wasn’t brand new. So that’s where our new front page will come in. Plus there are some other less obvious tweaks.

So if you try and access the site and there are some teething problems, we apologise in advance and please bear with us.

Fingers crossed there should be no problems Smile

And let us know what you think…
